Dogs Trust is saddened to hear of Harvey's plight and hopes he soon finds the loving home he deserves. We sadly take in many dogs who appear to have been much-loved pets, but upon straying have become permanently separated from their owners simply because the dog's microchip details were not kept up-to-date.
Along with microchipping, updating your database provider with the correct contact details will be compulsory in England, Wales and Scotland come 6th April 2016. To find out more information on microchip databases and how to update a microchip, please visit www.chipmydog.org.uk/update-your-dogs-chip.
Harvey the Dalmatian was found weak and cold at a bus stop in Shedfield, Hampshire, more than 240km from the vets where he was registered in Ynysybwl, Rhondda Cynon Taff. He is microchipped but the numbers registered to it do not work. Harvey is now being cared for by the RSPCA.Inspector Tina Ward said: "We are desperate to know how he came to be in this state and where his owners are."
