Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity is asking all dog owners to check that the contact details on their dog's microchip are up to date.
This reminder come after a stray dog in Scotland has so far been unable to be reunited with his owners as his European microchip doesn't have their current contact details recorded.
If details are not kept up to date, dog pounds and charities like Dogs Trust struggle to reunite dogs to their often frantic owners.
As of April 6th, all dogs in the UK must be microchipped, and by law, all contact details on the chip must be up to date.
To give you and your dog the best chance of being reunited if he was to become lost or stolen, check your dogs chip at www.chipmydog.org.uk
"This goes to show the importance of owners remembering to update microchip details if they move address or their contact details change. Share article "We think it's likely the owner has moved to Scotland with their dog and we hope they will get in touch. If no one comes forward we'll find him a loving new home."
